Last night was one of those shows where everything was electric start to finish. The other bands were awesome, my set was solid, the room sounded great, the audience was appreciative, it all felt like a good time start to finish. Hole in the Sky is a wonderful DIY space run by wonderful people and I really wish there were more of each of those around.
A particular highlight for me was the food, provided by Khepra Anu (pictured) and Senbeb Café. $12 got you a huge platter of garlic kale, wild rice, and pecan hemp “burgers” - all raw and vegan and unbelievable. But the real treat was the ginger pear juice (sold separately). I’m a big fan of all things ginger so I was ready to be amazed and this did not disappoint. It was a vivid blend of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors, and as an added bonus it had a bit of an energizing kick which was much appreciated as the night went on. Khepra was even kind enough to share the ingredients with me. He mentioned pears, ginger, chai tea, cilantro, and coconut water. Simple enough, all I need now is a juicer.
